WE LOVE SKIN AND SO DO YOU. I get many different question regarding skincare tips as well as my own thoughts on the subjects. So I know it was about time I sat down and unraveled some of your most asked questions. I bought along my little sister Emily who has had some of her own personal struggles with acne then the scarring that came after. We try to give you a casual, balance and to the point review of our skincare opinions as well as experiences. CLICK HERE TO CHECK OUT THE VIDEO. Heres a written breakdown to some of your questions as well as my personal food recommendations when it comes to skincare rituals.
FOODS FOR SKIN
Healthy fats help balance hormones as well as protect skins (aka skin cells). Healthy fats are what keep our skin looking youthful and bouncy. For females hormones play a HUGE roll in the way our skin presents therefore keeping them as balanced as possible helps tremendously with keeping those spots away.
- Coconut/olive oil
- Chia seeds
This is naturally occurring pigments found in plants- vegetables. This is an important part of the diet when keeping your skin young looking and GLOWIN.
The human body converts carotene into vitamin A. We need vitamin A for healthy skin, our immune system, and good eye health. It also prevents premature skin ageing by acting as an antioxidant.
Carotene gives you naturally glowing skin, thus making it more attractive and beautiful. Excess intake however can cause the soles of your feet, palms of your hands, your nose and even the white portion of your eyes turn pumpkin yellow in colour… opps.
CAROTENE CONTAINING FOODS?
- Sweet potato
HOW TO GET SKIN GLOWY AND BRIGHT?
Make sure you are keeping your skin hydrated from the inside out! Drink plenty of water and moisturise morning and night!
Unfortunately we cant pick our “glow” days. Thats right sometimes we be looking fly and sometimes not so much. Its called life and for some of us being a girl! Hormones come into a play a lot when talking about wanting to “glow”. We have good skin days and all have bad ones, just gotta learn to live with it!
Carotene is the main culprit when it comes to food and glowing skin. Refer to my food section at top of page to get more info on what carotene is but to keep it simply, eat all the carrots, pumpkin and sweet potato your heart desires!
NATURAL REMEDIES TO HEAL ACENE SCARRING?
- Your oils
Don’t be scared of oil on your skin! Just make sure its the right one!! For acne scarring on the cheeks (once acne has gone)
I recommend a small amount of ‘bio oil’ once a day. BUT do not put this near your T zone as it may cause pimples.
Hemp oil is a great oil when it comes to natural skincare. It will not only help with scarring but helps moisturise the face and keep your skin “bouncy”.
Sorry to say this annoying word again but unfortunately things take time and you must be patient. If your face and body has gone through a rough time dealing with acne or intense spotting, its going to take a little time to heal over. Be okay with this and learn to accept where your at. Its not forever, just for now so don’t do anything to drastic and wait it out!
HOW DO I GET RID OF BLACK AND WHITE HEADS AROUND MY NOSE AND MOUTH?
- Eating habits
We all love a cheeky deep fried french fry every once in a while (or a while too many hehe) but unfortunately these oily greasy foods may be causing these unwanted pimples around your mouth.
Now you do not need to cut out your yummy fish and chip run all together but you do need to be mindful about it. If you are consuming these oily treats (i’m hopping not too often guys) its okay but you need to make sure you are being cautious if you are prone to pimples. Wash your mouth with water and wipe with a clean towel after consumption. Be aware to make these foods “sometimes foods” as our skin does not enjoy grease when trying to clear the skin.
Find yourself a natural salt or sugar exfoliating scrub and scrub your T zone every week/two to clear those little annoying white and black heads.
DOES WEARING A BIT OF MAKEUP AFFECT YOUR SKIN?
Listen I cant say it wont some-what affect as if yo put anything on your face its going to have some affect but overall no. You can still wear makeup and look after your skin but you just need to be mindful around it.
- Don’t be excessive
If you don’t need it on, don’t wear it! If your just lounging around, not going anywhere or just feel as though you could “live without it”, don’t wear it! Give your skin room to breath when possible and don’t over do it!
- No sleeping with it on
Do not put your head on the pillow with a makeup face on. Not only is it not a good idea to sleep with make up on but when you do have a fresh face you’ll undo all your wash work by putting it back into a dirty pillow. If you are taking a nap, ‘chilling out’ or going to sleep.. take your make up off!
- Find a foundation for you
All foundations are different, with various ingredients therefore it is not one size fits all. Just because it looks great on your friends skin doesn’t mean its going to work for yours! I suggest taking the time to investigate into what brand type is going to be best for you and your complexion. When shopping around ask for some assistance, tell them what your skin type is (oily, dry ect) and try a few on. It takes time but for us females that like to wear make up most days, its worth it.
Hope this has helped ease to your mind some-what! We need to understand this stuff is normal and unfortunately time has a big role to play in the whole skincare debark able. Be paceint and learn to love where your at, this time will pass and you will be kicking yourself to think you wasted it being worried about your skin. LOVE KATH & EM X
